How do REALTORs get paid?

REALTORs get paid on a commission fee structure of about 6% of the sale price of a home. That commission is split between both agents. In the case with Denver, where the average sale price is more than $500,000, REALTORs get paid $30,000 (.06 x $500,000) for closing that home. In the listing agent contract, the homeowner will determine how much to offer the buyer’s agent. Homeowners are strongly encouraged to offer the buyer’s REALTOR 3%, but it is up to the homeowner how much the buyer’s REALTOR gets paid. At TRELORA, we charge a flat fee of $3,000 in Colorado and $4,000 in Washington to represent you as a buyer or a seller.
